The Pagu had an extensive and strict set of incest taboos based on the lunar months people were born in. These were in addition to more conventional prohibitions against potentially procreative sex with close blood relatives and other sexually intimate acts that were generally avoided as a matter of taste rather than because of specific prohibitions. For any moon name the prohibitions are indicated by the lunar calendar. While it may not be possible for a present day person to know their actual moon names it is possible for them, given their birth dates and those of potential partners, to calculate on the basis of the dates of the full moons at the time of their births their degree of compatibility if any.
